today is my first day of attachment with rheumatology. starts at 8am.. going to start at 8am for the weeks to come. the very last time, i have to report at 8am on weekdays are 6 years ago. that was orientation time.
the difference: more people walking with my towards the main blocks. colourful. it used to be mainly white in the dark. mostly in a rush, yet still in sleeping mode.
when to visit chenna before i go to sign in!! that is if i get to see her baby, i could carry him! and i did! ryan boy. small face! and even took picture!
then went to sign in, head towards room outside ward 44 to meet sister yee. on my way, saw christine. her first day back to work after her 1.5 years of NPL!! and she is pregnant again!!! due next CNY! she must be happy!! i told her abt chenna's delivery. i doubted christine will have the time to go visit chenna, even so it is so near.. work is just getting onto everyone.
get to meet lotsa people. introduce to new people. snm susan low, nc stephanie, nc qua. in w74
nurses in clinic G.
nurses in clinic B. din get to see s in clinic b cos she is not in her office. got introduce to phamplets in consultation room. available in room 1,3,5,6,7.
get to see allergy clinic in clinic A. glass door. run by several dr from different discipline. share share, take turn.
get to go around seeing patients (post round) and speak to them more.
off at 6pm.
today, is the first day mina come back to work after her AL. have not seen her since her promotion which is about 2 weeks ago. so now she is my new boss! :D
six years ago, she is a SN in the same room as me at word and often i was working under her guidance. now she is wearing green and looking different and great. I was pestering mina to take picture with me in her new uniform, but she refused. how disappointing.
she treated us with cakes and puffs. in return, i have prepared 2801 lee JS to greet mina as 'SISTER MINA'. Mina must be shocked and embarrassed. Hee!
anyhow, i can no longer call her mina. should change, however weird and hard.
recently, i am disturbed by actions, comments, thoughts that suggest that women are to take care of housework and children.
i am rather offended. Why should these responsibilities be onto the women's shoulders? what happened to our men?
seeing my friend's husband pushing their girl to my friend (the mother) after he holds her for like maybe 5 minutes. his body language expressed it all---> "this is you women, mother's job, wife responsibilities. hold the kid and take care of her!" SIGH+ANGRY. in this case, as far as i know, the woman did not want a kid, the man had actually persuaded her into pregnancy. she did for him and this is how he handle the child that he has asked for.
for this, it has reinforced the fact, NEVER BELIEVE WHAT A MAN PROMISES ON HOUSEWORK + BRING UP THE CHILDREN.
then the other day, the man in my house actually get involved in housework WHEN OUR FRIENDS COME OVER for dinner. then one of them commented that the man was bullied. FUME IS ALL OVER ME! he merely did those housework, on deliberation. just as our friends are here. PRETENTIOUS --> does this quite explain what i wanna say?
i am offended because:
as a woman in the house, i bring home the bacon too.
i hold a full time job.
i contribute as much as my husband to the house loan, and bills.
so if i am doing these just as the man in my house. my expectations would be that he share the load of the works at home, caring of the child(if there is one). equal equal equal. i do not mean that i should be paid the same as my man. i totally respect however much one gets cos that is given (of course, there is another issue when i know some people do not work as much as they are paid). i do understand that men are generally stronger, however, i already did my best to carry as much groceries and goes up the ladder to change bulbs and batteries.
too much of work...
i think i am affected by my work in my normal living...
i came by a banner that said "FREE ADMISSION......." [i can't remember the rest of the content].
first impression: WOW! which hospital is so good?? FREE ADMISSION!!??
split second later: what was i thinking about FREE ADMISSION? it is referring to free entry to some places eg. zoo, museums...
1 second later: i was laughing at myself, really out loud for my atrocious thinking..
was in a panic state to search on the online statutes.. need to find something related to patients and healthcare and sterilization and parents....
when i was search for 'PARENT/S ACT' [if there is such a thing] under the P-list.. i was delighted that i found it!!
first impression: YES! found it, but i can't believe it, there is such things a PARENT ACT.. telling us how to be a parent in legal terms?
a few seconds into reading: it is PATENT ACT
so now, i am laughing at myself again.. work has indeed gobbled up my mind like a Krabby Patty.
oh ya, BTW, just to share some mistakes that are laughable...
someone drew across the 'discharge planning' page and wrote 'DISEASED' , i think she meant deceased?
someone wrote 'ONE PUBLIC ASSISTANCE/ GRANT CART' for safekeeping. the cart must be quite valuable.. but why would someone bring a cart along for hospitalisation?
there is a change in my life style.
i have to make sure that my handphone has enough energy til the end of the day, answers my calls, see through messages and i am very tempted to add my bosses' numbers as speed dial. i din do that cos i din want to have a habit to rely. i must think think think, ask, then do.
i have never imagine myself to be in today's state.
i was about to get ready to leave house for dinner when a colleague calls me. she ask asked me to call her from my home phone and sounded urgent.
first impression: boyfriend related!
nope nope. nothing of that. PHEW~~ good good good.
then she told me something that makes her anxious and upset. she has an important information and patient's belonging to hand over to the SN at the other ward. patient has to be transfer post op., so she brought her belongings to the prospective ward after she got a call from OT recovery. she was faster that the patient. so she brought back the bag of belongings and important message back to the ward, cos the SN refuses to receive the stuff, not even that important issue that need to be follow up. the SN shooed her off like she and unwelcome dirty fugitive.
so my colleague was very upset, anxious, din know what to do and called me for help.. after listening to what she has said. i told her i will call my friend[someone senior] who is working in that ward. hopefully she is on duty and the important message could be pass on and not wait till the next day..
so i called.. it took sometime for them to answer the call. i asked for just her name, M., then she asked me 'who is this?' my reply, 'SN Tan'. faint** i am at home, and i have to say i am SN tan. "she is not at this station, try A station."
called A station, better asked for "SN M", so they know i am not calling for personal issue. "may i speak to SN M please?", "who is this, where are you from?" WOW seems worse.. "SN Tan, from W*3C." [fumble, calling out]
emerge my friend's voice. "is this SN M?" (to confirm, just in case i talk to the wrong M).. talk talk talk, 4 mins. ended and i am perspiring and late for dinner. sigh. call back to that colleague to tell her that i have told to someone senior and ask her to look out already.. then the poor colleague finally could let go of her anxiety and disappointment.
my housemate is issued a ticket, for the third time. he has parked his motorcycle somewhere except in a parking lot. when he got the 2nd ticket, i told him to park strictly somewhere in the carpark.. and he obviously did not think that parking anywhere except a parking lot is a problem. you should be able to guess alot correctly since there is a 3rd ticket now. i think for this 3rd ticket, he has to pay $400 for the fine. THAT'S TOTALLY FINE FOR ME! yeah!! it is already a 'told you' from me.. since he has not consider what i have advised seriously, it is great to have monetary punishment involve. most people don't pay attention till money is involve. IT MUST BE A BIG PINCH! good good good.
one ridiculous suggestion given by his friend is worth 100 slaps onto his head! he asked my housemate to write in to appeal. to think of a story [to me it is an EXCUSE] then write to appeal. my housemate said that he didn't write. and i think that is honest enough. anyhow, there is nothing he should write about. already given the same ticket twice, still wanna write in to say that you are not aware? that is idiotic.

what does it means by 'the phenomena of interest in nursing'? i have no idea. i know the words, one on its own. decided to check out phenomenon, singular.. i read from the dictionary on my dashboard. then stil don't get it.. so referred to the example sentence...
"these phenomena are not fully understood"
----hmmm, not of any help.. this is just like chinese 造句, we were told not to do it this way e.g.－ 歹毒－－“今天老师要我用 ’歹毒‘ 造句。”
and normally people will express "wow, a strange phenomenon!"
see, this word is so abstract that others don't understand its real meaning..
i was just thinking about birthdays..
firstly, to admit, my mother is not supportive of birthday parties. i think she doesn't like the after-party mess. no one likes that ba. so i don't get birthday parties.. i think there is only once. when i am four or five? i have photos. but there is just 9 of us at the party and, my aunt's family and my family. HAHA!
secondly, my birthday is in May. exam period! there is no way my parents would ditch a day to make way for party! so i have give it a count. i am 25 now, i will start counting when i am 7, which is the proper start for education. from 7 til 25, i have 19 birthdays passed, and 16 times, i am with exam/ school work during my birthday.
quite horrible huh? i understand i dont have the luxury in time for grand bdae parties and used to not having one. i feel really fantastic with a dinner and a cake. one advice, if u are going to have children, maybe you like to consider more in-depth planning?
